Toeing in the line of IITs and IIMs are now students of language, as they ready themselves to have their plunge in the corporate world.
The alumni of Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL, now English and Foreign Languages University) Hyderabad and that of University of Hyderabad (better known as Hyderabad Central University - HCU)have come together in a first-of-its-kind venture with their one-stop language solutions business christened Increment Language Solutions. From their modest office in Tarnaka, Hyderabad, the team, a group of twenty five ex-students of the two universities, offer services in translation, material development, editing, subtitling, copy writing and training in English, Spanish, german, French, Japanese and Arabic.

So why start a new company while the students get recruited with best pays in the industry? Ashley, one of the key founders, explains, “True. Many of us have worked with big companies and the pay cheques were not anything to complain about. But coming from premier universities of the country one sees a chasm between the work done in academics, and many of them very industry-specific, and the industry itself. Our mission is to bridge this.”

Vaishnavi, alumna from HCU says, “University is a high energy zone. We need to tap that for the industry, and that makes a lot of difference to the language training scene. Employing theatre exercises to equip trainees in soft skills and language, for example”.

While I leave the office wishing them good luck, I can already see enquiries being made. It might take much more time and effort to play it big in the industry. But the statement is made.
